New Braunfels residents are called to weigh in on the proposed hike and bike trail plans at an upcoming public open house. According to the City of New Braunfels' announcement, the city is aiming to add a new trail segment along Waterway Lane and is seeking community input before moving forward. The public event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the NBU Service Center on FM 306.
Originating from a 2021 meeting where the public expressed strong opposition to a roadway extension, the city has shifted gears toward enhancing pedestrian and cyclist amenities. This change of plans, detailed in the city's communication, now favors a trail that will connect Gruene Road to Old FM 306. Amid some scattered conversations, attending residents will have the opportunity to review and comment on the conceptual design for the trail.
Feedback collected at the open house will also be instrumental in the city's application for construction grant funding through the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Anyone looking to attend the open house can find details about this and other upcoming public meetings on the city's website. The NBU Service Center, located at 355 FM 306, will host the meeting.
