A devastating incident unfolded on Griffin Road in Davie, where, according to the Davie Police Department, one individual lost their life in a fiery two-vehicle collision yesterday afternoon. The crash, reported at approximately 2:30 p.m. near 15200 Griffin Road, resulted in one of the vehicles catching fire, as reported by Local 10 News.
The aftermath of the collision prompted police to seal off westbound Griffin Road at Southwest 148th Avenue as well as the eastbound and westbound ramps leading to Interstate 75, effectively dissecting the usual flow of traffic passing through the area. With the road meant to be shuttered for "several hours," as recommended by authorities, alternative routes became a necessity for the afternoon traversers of Davie's thoroughfares, seeking paths untangled from the calamity clinging to these normally mundane lanes.
In a statement obtained by CBS News Miami, the police said "one person died at the scene" of the accident, with one of the vehicles being "fully engulfed." Davie Police are still investigating the events that led to the tragic crash, which left twisted metal and scorched ground.
As the investigation continues, those affected by the closures are finding alternate routes. Police are urging the public to avoid the area while they work to piece together the events leading to the deadly encounter between two travelers.
