Around 1:47 a.m., near the junction of westbound Interstate 290 and Kostner Avenue, the pedestrian, for reasons yet unclear, was walking in the lanes of traffic and became the locus of a collision that also ensnared two vehicles, the Illinois State Police have confirmed.
In the chaotic aftermath, the primary vehicle lost control, subsequently causing an impact with a second vehicle bringing the total number of vehicles involved to three, and as a result, a logistical nightmare ensued for inbound traffic as law enforcement and emergency services descended upon the scene the pedestrian was then promptly transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for the injuries sustained, the severity of which remains under wraps at this juncture.
