Early this morning, a potential shooting at a UPS facility in Hialeah elicited a substantial police response. Situated near the Hialeah Police Department, the scene unfolded at East 56th Street and East 8th Avenue. According to 7News, crime scene tape was used to section off an area within a plaza as officers detained individuals near a bullet-ridden black vehicle and a red minivan outside the facility's fence.
The complexity of the situation was evident as there seemed to be two distinct focal points of the investigation. Operating around 3:30 a.m., the 7Droneforce captured footage of the scene where, according to video shared by NBC6, Hialeah Fire Rescue units could be seen arriving at Ryder Trauma Center with one individual possibly suffering from a gunshot wound. Meanwhile, police at the rear of a white sedan were seen unloading a firearm, placing the magazine on the trunk of the vehicle.
Amidst the chaos, a friend summoned a witness to the scene, stating that they were in need of assistance. Recounting their experience, the witness told 7News, "‘Get here. Somebody is trying to jump me. I need help’ So I came here to try to figure out what’s going on and he’s in handcuffs. Some other guy told me that somebody shot somebody. My friend was behind this [police] car, but he didn’t shoot anybody so they let just him go.”
The status of the detainees remained unclear, with no confirmation on whether any would face charges related to the apparent shooting. Authorities later cleared the scene.
