A man previously convicted for a 2017 stabbing incident was arrested again in Lake County after he threatened people with a knife on Wednesday morning. According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Joshua W. Marksberry, 39, brandished a knife and issued threats to residents at his Wadsworth living quarters.

Lake County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the scene at around 9:40 a.m. following reports of an aggravated assault at the 15900 block of West Wadsworth Road; Marksberry however fled the location before authorities arrived and his initial whereabouts were unknown, his eventual capture later in the evening was due to sharp canine detection, as he attempted to stay hidden in a tent within a wooded on the property. Sheriff John D. Idleburg praised the team, highlighting, "We are very pleased our Patrol Division and Canine Teams were able to successfully apprehend this violent man, before someone was seriously injured or worse," as stated in the official report from the Sheriff's Office.

Marksberry now faces charges for Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, a class 3 felony, and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a class A misdemeanor, approved by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office. Commendations were specifically given to Canine Hemi and his partner Deputy Kevin Zerbe for executing the first successful tracking that led to an apprehension.

Currently detained at the Lake County Jail, Marksberry awaits a court hearing on the charges as the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office moves forward with a petition to detain him during trial proceedings, this development was confirmed in a morning update from the Sheriff's Office. The statement from the Sheriff also extended accolades to Canine Danno and Deputy Andrew Martini for their efforts in the operation that managed to keep the community safe from further harm.
