
Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector made a significant arrest yesterday when they took Jesus Jaime Saavedra-Orozco, a Mexican national with a concerning past, into custody near Hidalgo, Texas, as per information released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Record checks post-arrest revealed that Saavedra-Orozco is indeed a registered sex offender, with a disturbing 2001 conviction for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child in Hidalgo County, Texas, an offense for which he was previously sentenced to 18 years in prison.
According to the official CBP press release, Saavedra-Orozco was apprehended during routine border security operations. These activities are conducted to prevent individuals who may pose a threat from entering the United States. In cases like Saavedra-Orozco’s, individuals with concerning backgrounds are identified and stopped at the border. This apprehension reflects broader efforts to maintain community safety.
Saavedra-Orozco is currently being held in federal custody and is awaiting criminal prosecution in connection with immigration violations.
