Residents and visitors of the River North neighborhood in Chicago's 18th (Near North) District are on alert following a string of strong-arm robberies reported by the Chicago Police Department. According to the department's community alert, multiple incidents have occurred where individuals are being physically overpowered and robbed of their personal belongings.
The recent criminal activities have been specifically located within the 100 block of W. Kinzie, with occurrences noted on June 12, 2025, at 1:55 a.m and shortly thereafter at 2 a.m. in the 0-100 block of W. Kinzie, the department outlines a pattern where victims, while walking alone, are approached, attacked, and then forcibly relieved of their possessions.
Description of the suspects has been provided by the authorities: they are looking for three African American males, possibly aged between 20 and 30, about 5'10"-6'0" in height and weighing between 175-185 lbs., all reportedly sporting dreadlocks at the time of the robberies.
Community members are being urged to stay vigilant and report any unusual activities, Chicago Police suggest keeping an eye out for strangers or unfamiliar vehicles that seem out of place and also if anyone finds themselves in a precarious situation with an assailant, to try and stay composed, keeping a mental note of any distinguishing details and ensuring not to engage in pursuit once they flee, instead, leaving the matter in the hands of law enforcement officials with whom all the information should be shared and, if any witnesses are present, they should try to secure their contact details for the police.
