A 16-year-old has been arrested following a family dispute that led to gunfire last evening in Riverton. According to FOX13, Riverton Police responded to an incident near 13400 S. Homestead Lane around 6:30 p.m., where a teenager is alleged to have shot his uncle three times during an argument.
The confrontation between the two escalated quickly, spurring the teen to draw a handgun and open fire in the front yard. KUTV reports that the uncle, 35, was swiftly taken to a local hospital, and though he suffered serious injuries, they were not believed to be life-threatening. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Following the shooting, the teen fled the scene, prompting a coordinated search by multiple local law enforcement agencies. As detailed by KSL Newsradio, the Riverton Police Department collaborated with Herriman, Draper, and South Jordan Police Departments and was subsequently able to locate the suspect in Herriman shortly after the incident.
