Last Sunday evening, a tragic incident occurred on Highway 101 in Lincoln County, as reported by Oregon State Police. At around 6:09 p.m., a single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Seal Rock resident, Leslie Ryan Campbell, age 45. The crash site, near Seal Rock, was the scene of an intensive investigation that lasted several hours, leading to significant traffic delays along the coastal route.
The initial findings suggest that the gray Toyota Matrix, driven by Campbell, was headed southbound when it inexplicably veered off the road. The vehicle was reported to have struck guide wires on the embankment's south side before coming to a fatal stop against a tree. Unfortunately, Campbell, who was alone in the car, did not survive the impact and was declared dead at the scene.
As a result of this accident, Highway 101 faced closures that lasted approximately four hours. Traffic flow was disrupted while the authorities, including the Oregon State Police, the Seal Rock Fire Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation, worked jointly to manage the aftermath of the collision and to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause.
