Sen. Emanuel Jones has been tapped by Lt. Governor Burt Jones to join the Senate Study Committee on Making Georgia the No. 1 State for Tourism. This initiative aims to pinpoint ways to amplify the state's appeal to visitors, drawing on its myriad attractions and culturally rich locales.
"We have an opportunity to bring inclusive growth and investments to communities across Georgia by showcasing the best attributes of our state," Sen. Jones expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, stating, "From neighborhood revitalization to job creation, a strong tourism strategy can uplift families and support small businesses. I look forward to working with my colleagues to help Georgia reach its full potential as a premier destination—one that truly reflects the richness and diversity of our state,” as noted by the Georgia State Senate Press Office.
The committee, which includes several other appointed members such as Sen. Frank Ginn (R–Danielsville), Sen. Russ Goodman (R–Cogdell), Sen. Sonya Halpern (D–Atlanta), and chaired by Sen. Drew Echols (R-Gainesville), is tasked with exploring avenues for tourism enhancement throughout Georgia. Each member brings their distinct regional insights, contributing to a comprehensive strategy aimed at elevating Georgia's tourism profile, according to the same press release.
With this concerted effort, the committee aims to promote tourism development that reaches beyond the usual hotspots. Sen. Jones noted the potential impact on local economies, expressing hope for a future where Georgia stands out as a prime destination that, served by increased tourism, businesses and communities alike see tangible benefits.
