Spring Hill firefighters were dispatched to a blaze that overtook a residence on Iroquois Dr. yesterday afternoon. An update from the Spring Hill Fire Department's social media informed concerned locals that the fire began at approximately 1:20 pm and was discovered by a vigilant neighbor who saw smoke and quickly alerted the home's occupants, enabling them to escape without injury. SHFD's post highlighted the rapid response of the firefighting units, arriving within seven minutes of the call.

The fire escalated quickly as it was fanned by the wind, extending up the rear of the structure and into the attic and living quarters, resulting in devastating damage to the property. While the cause of the fire is presently being looked into by the SHFD Fire Investigation Unit, the situation could have been far more dire had it not been for the prompt actions of the neighbor and the swift response of emergency services. According to the post from the Spring Hill Fire Department, SHFD was assisted by various agencies in battling the blaze, including SHPD, Williamson County Rescue Squad, Williamson County Fire-Rescue, and others.

In the course of their duties, one firefighter sustained a minor hand injury and received evaluation on the scene. Another firefighter was transported to the hospital for heat exhaustion but has since been released after an assessment.

The SHFD, together with assisting agencies, managed the situation professionally, keeping the community informed and safe. Noteworthy is the collaboration and support provided by agencies such as the Maury Co. Fire Dept., City of Columbia Fire Dept., Williamson ECOM, ATMOS, MTE, and the American Red Cross. This unified front was pivotal in limiting the fire's impact and aiding those affected, with the American Red Cross stepping in to offer necessary assistance. More details regarding the incident will be available once the investigation into the cause of fire has reached a conclusion.
