Stuart Police are on the hunt for an individual who allegedly took a perilous leap from the Roosevelt Bridge on Sunday, as per reports. The incident, which unfolded around 6 p.m., prompted an immediate and thorough search of the area's waterways. Working in tandem, the Stuart Police Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office combed the vicinity but to no avail—the person in question remained elusive.
The authorities have cast a wide net, turning to the public for aid. They are asking anyone with possible insight—those who may have seen something on that fateful evening or stumbled upon anything out of the ordinary along the waterways—to come forward. A report from CBS 12 News quotes the request: "Authorities are appealing to the public for help and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or came across anything unusual in the area or waterways to reach out to the Stuart Police Department at 772-287-1122 or call 911 immediately."
In a similar call to action posted on social media, the Stuart Police Department reiterated the urgency of the situation, highlighting the collaborative nature of the search efforts that included multiple agencies. An announcement shared via Facebook stated: "An extensive search of the surrounding waterways was conducted by Stuart Police, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. At this time, the individual has not been located."
