
Early yesterday morning, a shooting in Northwest D.C. ended with a suspect behind bars after Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers responded to the incident. At around 4:31 a.m., near the intersection of 10th and U Streets, officers, upon hearing gunshots found a male victim, who despite his injuries was conscious and breathing, and secured medical attention for him; he is now recovering from non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital, according to a report by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Delonte Brown, 30, of Northeast D.C., was identified and detained by law enforcement soon after the event, the quick response resulting in the swift apprehension of the alleged perpetrator who was found with an unregistered firearm matching the description of the one used at the crime scene, and he's facing multiple charges including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Carrying a Pistol without a License, reflecting the gravity of the offense and the ongoing issues with illegal firearms in the area.
The case, associated under CCN: 25084905, remains under investigation as authorities seek to understand the motivations behind the shooting and whether there were other factors involved.
