A Tarrant County jury has recently concluded a case against a 61-year-old woman, identified as Carolyn Rodriguez, who has been found guilty of hindering proceedings by disorderly conduct, resulting in her being sentenced to 18 months of probation. The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office took to social media to applaud the work of the Sheriff’s Office and express their commitment to preserving community safety. The post, which detailed the outcome, can be found on their official Facebook page.
The incident that led to Rodriguez's conviction occurred on January 28, 2025, during a public County Commissioners Court meeting in Tarrant County. According to reports, Rodriguez disrupted the meeting by using profanity to protest against rules that prohibit expletives. After being ordered to leave, she continued to shout an additional swear word, which ultimately led to her arrest. If Rodriguez fails to strictly comply with the terms of her probation, she could face a jail sentence of 270 days and a potential fine of $2,000.
Two assistant district attorneys, Lloyd Whelchel and Brandon Martin, as well as investigator Lester Couch, are recognized by the District Attorney’s Office for their contributions to the case. The jury's decision emphasizes the enforcement of rules governing proper conduct during public discussions and the consequences for failing to uphold them.
