A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition following a shooting incident that occurred Wednesday night near the 31st Street Beach on Chicago's South Side. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the teen was struck in the abdomen around 9:45 p.m. in the 600 block of East 31st Street as a fight erupted among multiple people, which then led to gunfire.
The circumstances of the fight, still unclear, left the boy in a critical state at Comer Children’s Hospital. As reported by CBS News Chicago, the confrontation occurred just before 10 p.m.
No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of Thursday morning, as detailed by CBS News Chicago. Detectives from Area 1 are working on the investigation.
