
Tragedy struck in Chicago's South Deering neighborhood, where a lethal head-on collision claimed the lives of three people and injured another in the early hours of Sunday. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a red and a black Dodge Challenger collided in the 11200 block of South Stony Island Avenue at approximately 3:04 a.m.
The force of the crash killed both drivers, a 20-year-old man at the helm of the red Challenger and a 21-year-old man driving the black vehicle, along with a 19-year-old woman passenger in the latter car, the impact leaving the vehicles mangled and the survivors reeling from the sudden, violent loss. A 20-year-old man who was a passenger in the red car was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition, marking the only survival amid the catastrophe.
Little information has been released concerning the victims’ identities or the circumstances surrounding the crash, which remains under investigation by Chicago police. The ABC 7 Chicago report added that authorities have not yet disclosed the ages or identities of the deceased, other than noting the fatality of the two drivers and one passenger.
