Heads up, drivers and commuters in Calcasieu Parish — there are some upcoming traffic adjustments you’ll want to be aware of if you're traveling along LA 397. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has notified the public of alternating lane closures on LA 397 Northbound and Southbound, stretching from US 90 to Interstate 10.
The lane closures are set to begin on May 9, and are projected to last until October 10, according to the DOTD announcement. The reason behind this five-month disruption? Crews will be busy with pavement patching, and curb repair works along the thoroughfare. In case you're hauling larger loads, keep in mind, there is a width restriction of 10 feet on both northbound and southbound lanes.
This won't be just a test of patience for those driving through, but also a safety concern that DOTD urges residents to not take lightly. "DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment," the announcement states.
