Jayvon Gattison, a 24-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., has been sentenced to 40 months in prison after pleading guilty earlier this year, to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. At the time of his arrest, he was on probation and was also found with drugs, as per the U.S. Attorneys Office release.

According to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith, Gattison was arrested on October 9, 2024, around 7 p.m. after officers from the MPD Robbery Suppression Unit observed him standing near a silver Lexus. Officers reported smelling marijuana and detained the group. Gattison was holding a marijuana cigarette.

A search revealed a loaded Glock 17 9mm pistol, a digital scale, cash, and 12 grams of cocaine base. Gattison has a previous conviction for voluntary manslaughter from 2019.

The case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. In addition to the prison sentence, U.S. District Court Judge Jia M. Cobb ordered Gattison to serve three years of supervised release.
