The violent streak began around 7:00 p.m. Friday on the 400 block of North Wells Street, where a dispute between two men ended with one, 36, shot in the left arm. Among the injured was an 18-year-old man critically wounded in a shooting early Saturday on West Thomas Street in the Austin neighborhood. He was first taken to West Suburban Medical Center before being transferred to Stroger Hospital, police said.

Saturday also saw a 21-year-old woman shot twice during an altercation with another woman, and a 34-year-old man injured on South King Drive. In another incident, two men were shot on West Fifth Avenue, and three more were struck by gunfire on West Roosevelt Road, two of whom later died. The violence continued into Sunday. A man was shot in the finger while sitting in a vehicle on West Gunnison Street, while another man, 63, was critically injured after being shot in the head inside a home. A 16-year-old girl was also shot in the leg. Authorities have not yet announced any arrests in connection with these incidents. Investigations are ongoing.
