The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) Watch Commander, Officer J. Perales, reported that a 38-year-old male, maneuvering a 2004 Ford Explorer, collided with a 28-year-old male driving a 2025 Tesla Model Y. The incident at the intersection of Woodman Street and Skyline Drive resulted in the Ford driver failing to adhere to the red traffic light signal.
The collision resulted in serious injuries for the Tesla driver, who now grapples with a fractured ulna, a dislocated elbow, and several abrasions. San Diego's Traffic Division, tasked with peeling back the layers of this unfortunate event, has taken the helm of the investigation. The Ford driver, whose decision to drink and drive cast a shadow over the national holiday's festivities, was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and has been booked into jail.
