
Barrow County has made key appointments to solidify its leadership roster, with Bill Nash stepping into the role of Deputy County Manager and Brett Skinner being named the full-time Fire Chief, as the county aims to bolster essential services and drive economic growth. Nash, a seasoned professional engineer, brings over a quarter-century of experience to his position where he will manage significant infrastructure initiatives for the county.
Nash, who is set to embark on his new role on August 25, has an impressive history of handling both public and private sector projects, including his current stint as Director of Public Works and Utilities for Hall County, coupled with over a decade at the helm of his own civil engineering firm, showcasing a resume that impressed County Manager Srikanth Yamala, Yamala praised Nash’s customer service ethic and his skill at navigating complex projects, saying, "I was impressed by his skill set, ability to navigate complex projects, and commitment to customer service," according to a statement on the Barrow County official website.
On the frontline of emergency response, Brett Skinner, who has assumed the role of interim Fire Chief since June, now takes on the mantle officially as of July 26, bringing with him more than two decades of experience in fire rescue and emergency services. Skinner’s history with the Barrow County Fire Department and his credentials as a Georgia Certified Fire Chief and a Georgia Advanced Certified Emergency Manager have poised him to carry on the department's legacy of professionalism and dedication to the community and Skinner was praised by Yamala who said in a statement, “I am excited to have Chief Skinner lead the fine men and women of the Barrow County Fire Department, over the years, he successfully demonstrated the skills necessary to build on the high standards of professionalism and service to our community and business partners," as obtained by Barrow County's news release.
These leadership selections reflect Barrow County's commitment to strategic planning and quality service delivery as it steps forward into a phase of infrastructural transformation and community safety enhancement, with Nash wielding a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, the county has signaled a serious approach to its upcoming projects, while Skinner's advancement from within ensures continuity for a fire department steeped in a tradition of excellence.
