
The Pilsen community in Chicago is on alert after a hit-and-run accident resulted in one fatality and left another individual with serious injuries. According to a community alert issued by the Chicago Police Department, the incident occurred on July 19, 2025, around 11:18 p.m. near 2000 S. Ashland Avenue. The police report that a dark colored Dodge Journey SUV was involved in the accident, striking two pedestrians—a 24-year-old who was fatally injured and a 23-year-old who sustained serious injuries.
As traveling northbound on Ashland Ave, the SUV implicated in this tragedy reportedly fled the scene without stopping. Striving to locate the driver, the authorities are now reaching out to the public for any information that might assist in their investigation. The vehicle in question is described as a dark colored Dodge Journey, 4-door SUV. A noticeable feature of the vehicle is a broken right headlight, and there may also be damage to the front right bumper and quarter panel, as a consequence of the impact.
The police have emphasized the seriousness of hit-and-run offenses and are urging community members to come forward with any details. They appeal to witnesses who might have seen the incident or the vehicle either before or after the crash, highlighting the urgency in rendering aid to the victim's family and seeking justice for the grievous loss they have endured. The surviving 23-year-old victim has been reported to be in critical condition at a local hospital, grappling with the aftermath of this sudden violence.
