
A 64-year-old man, identified as Steven Carter, has been charged with arson and attempted murder in connection to a fire set in the dwelling of a 56-year-old male, according to the Chicago Police Department. Carter, who resides on the 100 block of E. Chestnut St. in Chicago, Illinois, was arrested early on July 22, 2025.
Chicago police apprehended Carter at approximately 12:54 a.m. on the 4500 block of N. Lake Shore Dr. Nb. It was less than 30 minutes after the victim's residence was deliberately set ablaze, while knowing the victim was inside, that the offender was taken into custody. Charged with one felony count of aggravated arson and one felony count of attempted first-degree murder, Carter faces serious legal repercussions.
The detention hearing for the suspect is scheduled for July 23, 2025, at the address 2600 S. California Ave. At the moment, further details concerning the case or the motives behind the alleged crime have not been disclosed by the authorities.
