The Chicago Police Department is warning Roscoe Village residents about a reported incident of criminal sexual abuse and trespass. According to a community alert, an unidentified man made unauthorized entry into a building on the 3400 block of N. Damen and sexually abused two women early on Sunday before fleeing.
Authorities have described the suspect as a Black male, seen wearing green shorts and a black hooded sweatshirt, the incident took place at around 1:30 a.m., where the perpetrator, after trespassing committed the said offenses and then left the scene. The police are actively investigating and encourage anyone approached by a witness or who has any relevant information to immediately report suspicious activity and preserve any potential evidence until law enforcement arrives.
Residents and business owners in the area are advised to stay vigilant, make sure surveillance systems are functioning properly and that they are recording. The Chicago Police Department also suggests saving any pertinent video footage that could help in their investigation. Immediate contact with the police through 9-1-1 is strongly recommended if one encounters a similar situation, and to do so while remaining on the scene if it's safe.
