This year's edition has already immersed its participants in the nitty-gritty of law enforcement techniques and theories. According to the latest from Collierville Police Department's social media, the curriculum has been extensive, covering topics from traffic stops and crisis intervention to crime scene procedures and the broad arc of law enforcement history.
Participants in the Collierville Police Explorer Academy are receiving hands-on experience with several specialized law enforcement units, including the Motor Unit and Unmanned Aerial Unit, according to the Collierville Police Department. The program also includes presentations from external agencies such as the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, giving students exposure to a broader range of public safety functions.
As part of the Collierville Police Explorer Academy, participants took a field trip to the Memphis Police Department's Mounted Patrol and Aviation Unit.
