A Coral Springs man has been arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a domestic incident involving his ex-wife. Andrew Jeffrey Orr, 51, is accused of brandishing a hammer in a threatening manner toward his ex-spouse during a dispute, according to a police report obtained by Coral Springs Talk.

The altercation occurred after midnight on June 20, starting when Orr called 911 to complain about his ex-wife leaving their children with their 19-year-old daughter. "You’ll be coming for me and putting handcuffs on me," he stated, signaling an ominous intent to act that might prompt police attention. Police records show he made this statement after being informed that his complaint did not constitute a criminal offense, as per an account by TAPinto Coral Springs.

Approximately half an hour after Orr's initial call, his ex-wife contacted police from a block away, reporting that Orr had confronted her in their driveway. She claimed to remain in her vehicle with windows up as Orr retrieved a hammer from the garage and raised it in a menacing gesture. Fearful for her safety, she immediately drove away to safely make the emergency call for assistance.

Upon their arrival, Orr denied the allegations, claiming he was merely holding his phones during the confrontation. However, when officers informed him they might to soon review security camera footage of the incident, Orr conceded that he had indeed held the hammer, according to Coral Springs Talk. Despite his admission, he maintained that he hadn't planned to use the hammer aggressively.

After his arrest in the early hours of the morning, Orr was transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He was later released on a $10,000 bond.
