Yesterday, the City of Coronado Police Department swiftly recovered a stolen vehicle following an alert from a Flock LPR camera. The technology identified a previously reported stolen Hyundai Elantra sedan crossing into Coronado via the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge around 11 AM, according to the City of Coronado Police Department.
The department’s day shift officers were able to quickly locate the sedan in a parking lot on the 800 block of D Avenue. Upon approaching the vehicle, which was found to be occupied by two females, police conducted an investigation. The situation led to the driver, a 25-year-old woman from the Los Angeles region, being arrested under suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, in accordance with California Penal Code 496d(a).
The suspect was transported and booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility. There has been no immediate information released concerning the passenger at the time of the incident or further details on the burgeoning investigation.
