The Town of Davie, in partnership with local community and youth organizations, has embarked on a philanthropic venture to stock underprivileged students with essential school supplies. According to a recent announcement on the Town of Davie's official website, the Town is teaming up with the Rick and Rita Case Boys and Girls Club, Florence A. De George Unit Boys and Girls Club, and Davie Police Athletic League (PAL) to coordinate a School Supply Donation Drive. Set to run through August 8, the initiative is designed to arm children within the community with the tools requisite for the inevitable commencement of the academic year.
Residents wishing to partake in the drive can drop off their donations at several locations throughout Davie. As spotted on the Town’s website, these include the Town Clerk’s Office, Pine Island Multipurpose Center, Fitness and Aquatic Center, Davie Police Department Lobby, and Davie Fire Rescue Department Main Lobby, with variable timings throughout the week to cater to individuals on different schedules. Breaking down the monotonous routine, residents can utilize their Friday mornings to night visiting the Davie Fitness and Aquatic Center and Pine Island Multipurpose Center, which open their arms welcoming donations.
The list of acceptable items for donation is stringent and specific, ensuring that what is given can directly benefit the students' needs. The composition of said items spans from spiral and composition notebooks in varying rule styles to earbuds or headphones, sans any used or previously owned goods. Helping hand, Florida’s Back to School 2025 Sales Tax Holiday presents a bonus to donors, falling between August 1 and August 31, purporting to offer relief from tax on qualifying back-to-school supplies, which could incentivize contributions whilst easing the spenders’ wallets.
Ensuring the delivery of these supplies to those in need, Davie is not operating in isolation but joining forces with long-standing civic institutions. Stated in the town's public notice, "The school supply distribution will be completed in partnership with Rick and Rita Case Boys and Girls Club, Florence A. De George Unit Boys and Girls Club, and Davie PAL." Angela Madias, Davie Police Compliance and Accreditation Manager, alongside Chad Pezoldt, Assistant Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Director, have been appointed as the points of contact for the initiative, aiming to navigate any inquired paths and guide the altruistic enterprise.
For those seeking additional details on how to contribute to the School Supply Donation Drive, inquiries can be directed towards Angela Madias at [email protected] or by calling 954-693-8395, and Chad Pezoldt at [email protected] or through 954-797-1151, as indicated by the Town’s announcement.
