
The City of Delray Beach is set to host a grand opening for its new Fire Station 113 with a community-invited Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, the city's dedication to increasing its emergency response efficiency and commitment to public safety is about to become more visible. As reported by the city's official website, the event is scheduled for Friday, July 25, and will be held at 651 Linton Boulevard, Delray Beach, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Details shared by the city highlight the extensive planning that went into the state-of-the-art facility. "This project represents years of thoughtful planning and coordination,” Missie Barletto, Director of Public Works, told the city website. Boasting modern design and resilient construction, the aim is to make the fire station a fixture of security for Delray Beach residents for the long haul.
Attendees at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony can expect, a range of ceremonial activities - these include a parade of fire apparatus from the old fire station, a formal raising of the colors, and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Delray Beach Fire Rescue and Police Honor Guards. According to city leadership, the ceremony will be further marked by speeches from Mayor Tom Carney, City Manager Terrence Moore, and Fire Chief Ronald Martin.
Symbolic events planned for the day include an official hose uncoupling ceremony indicating the station's readiness and the historic “push-in” of the fire engine into the station bay, accompanied by the Palm Beach County Firefighters Pipes and Drums. Fire Chief Ronald Martin emphasized the firehouse's significance to area residents, saying, "We are honored to open this vital facility and share this milestone with the community it serves," according to the city's announcement.
Furthermore, guests will be offered public tours showcasing the new station's features, which include educational exhibits, public safety displays, and refreshments. However, parking spaces could be in short supply for the event, as such, the City recommends visitors use the adjacent parking lot located at 571 Linton Blvd, Delray Beach.
