Dunwoody residents and businesses might have to juggle their calendars as the city upgrades its system for handling various municipal tasks. According to an announcement on Dunwoody’s official website, the Community Development department will be closed from yesterday to next Monday to transition to a new software platform, CentralSquare. The change is meant to simplify and improve permit applications, inspections, and other regulatory processes.

To manage this digital pivot, the city’s online portal was set to be inactive after 5 p.m. this past Tuesday. The shutdown means all permit-related services and code enforcement reports will be on hold. "Permit and inspection projects currently in progress will be manually input into the new system," Dunwoody officials stated on their website. During this period, no new applications or complaints can be processed, nor can inspections be scheduled or conducted.

Once live next Monday, the new system promises a more streamlined experience for users who will be directed to the city's website to access CentralSquare for their needs. In the meantime, existing permit applications or code complaints are to be validated with Community Development staff, ensuring proper migration to the new setup. Contact details have been circulated, including email addresses such as [email protected] and [email protected], alongside relevant phone numbers, to facilitate this transitional phase.

For those dealing with the Finance department concerning business or alcohol licensing, the city assures a smooth transition. The upgrade will bolster the city's capacity to handle requests online, relieving residents of the need to make physical visits to City Hall for submissions and payments. Regarding Open Records Requests, the city has indicated there may be delays during the switch, with every requestor to be directly informed on their individual cases. Completion of all aspects related to the CentralSquare system shift is anticipated by mid-September.
