El Paso County Sheriff's deputies, using the FLOCK Safety camera system, recently managed to quickly locate and apprehend suspects in a stolen vehicle case, highlighting the technology's impact on local law enforcement efforts. According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the camera system detected a stolen 2005 Dodge Dakota on Sunday night and informed deputies in real-time, bringing attention to the collaborative process between technology and law enforcement.

The reported stolen vehicle, sporting Nevada plates, was initially spotted in a Walmart parking lot and later came to a halt in the IHOP lot at 6450 Hwy 85/87. To safely recover the vehicle without incident, deputies performed a Tactical Intervention Method (TIM) Contact Block, demonstrating a coordinated approach between the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Fountain Police Department to swiftly apprehend the suspects. The driver, Coral Chmiel, age 44, faced charges including Motor Vehicle Theft and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Alongside Chmiel, two passengers were discovered to have outstanding warrants. Darious Williams, 52, and Emonie Williams, 29, were therefore detained and transported to the El Paso County Jail. Kathleen Blair, 44, earned a citation for Possession of a Controlled Substance and was then released at the scene. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the confiscation of narcotics and drug paraphernalia, further supporting the charges made.
