A pedestrian's life came to an abrupt end in Orland Park late Friday night, as a hit-and-run driver left the scene after striking the individual, according to Orland Park police. The incident unfolded in the 18400 block of LaGrange Road at approximately 11:40 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male, whose age has yet to be determined, lying in the thoroughfare, ABC7 Chicago reported.
Tragically pronounced dead at the scene, the identity of the victim remains as of now, unknown. The local authorities, taking the lead on the case, are gathering evidence and scrutinizing surveillance footage from nearby areas in hopes of tracking down the vehicle and its driver responsible for the fatal crash, the Chicago Sun-Times noted.
Orland Park Police Chief Eric Rossi expressed the gravity of the situation in a public statement.
