
A significant traffic accident occurred yesterday in Poway, resulting in five fatalities, as deputies from the Poway Station responded to the scene north of State Route 67 and Iron Mountain Drive following a three-vehicle collision that led to a brush fire. Emergency crews with air support successfully extinguished the blaze, preventing any structural damage, according to a San Diego County Sheriff's Department report.
The incident, which sent one of the vehicles careening into a ravine, prompted the response of the Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team they are now leading the investigation into the accident’s cause while the identities of the deceased have yet to be disclosed pending notification of their families; anyone with information regarding this event is urged to contact the Poway Sheriff's Station, as indicated by the official statement.
