
Yesterday afternoon, downtown Indianapolis witnessed an emergency response as fire erupted on the roof of the Tru by Hilton hotel. Positioned just a block from Lucas Oil Stadium on Russell Avenue, the sight of flames prompted urgent calls to firefighters who rushed to confront the blaze. FOX59 reported visible flames and smoke ascending into the sky, obscuring the edge of the building before the fire crews subdued the fire.
The Indianapolis Fire Department, acting on multiple 911 calls that were reported around 4:40 p.m., found "heavy fire showing" upon their arrival. According to WISH-TV, the department successfully contained the fire to the hotel's roof and controlled it within approximately 20 minutes. The swift action of the firefighting teams allowed for guests and staff, having evacuated the building on their own, witnessed the professionals at work, ensuring that no injuries were reported in the incident.
Occupants, including around seven workers and an unspecified number of guests, swiftly evacuated the hotel. In a statement obtained by WTHR, the Indianapolis Fire Department said, "The hotel will relocate the guests to other properties," ensuring that all affected by the disruption were accommodated elsewhere.
The cause of the fire remains uncertain, with investigators presently probing into the incident to ascertain the origins of the blaze.
