A former corporal with the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee has been indicted on charges of assault following an incident in January where it is claimed he used undue physical force during a traffic collision response. WSMV reports that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) began probing into a complaint against Ryan Creech on January 6, after accusations surfaced about his conduct.
Amid the investigation, it was alleged that Creech engaged in an altercation with one of persons involved in the traffic mishap, strangling the individual. In response to these findings, the Cheatham County Grand Jury delivered an indictment on Tuesday against Creech for one count of assault/threat of bodily injury and one count of aggravated assault/strangulation. According to WKRN, following the indictment, Creech turned himself in to the local authorities.
Creech, no longer employed by the sheriff's office, was booked at the Cheatham County Jail on a $6,000 bond yesterday, as per the TBI announcement. It should be noted that the charges Creech faces are only accusations at this point; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
