The City of Fort Lauderdale warned motorists to expect road closures along SE 9th Ave. from SE 5th Ct. to SE 6th Ct. in Rio Vista, according to an announcement on the City of Fort Lauderdale's website.
Detours will be strategically placed to redirect traffic, with routes including SE 5th Ct., S Federal Hwy., SE 11th Ave., and SE 6th Ct. for impacted Rio Vista drivers. The city is advising residents to drive with extra caution, to closely observe detour and pedestrian crosswalk signs, and to be especially mindful of construction workers and vehicles in the area.
The upheaval will also extend to Beverly Heights, where the intersection of SE 9th Ave. and SE 2nd Ct. will be closed for the duration of the project. Only local traffic will be permitted along SE 9th Ave. and SE 2nd Ct., with detours along SE 2nd St., SE 8th Ave., SE 10th Ter., and E Las Olas Blvd. for through traffic. These measures are in place to ensure pedestrian safety and to manage traffic flow around the construction zones.
Residents who need to gain access to their driveways within the closed areas of Rio Vista can expect to be allowed to do so, although this access will require prior coordination with the project workers.
