In the wake of a residential fire in Greenacres last Wednesday, firefighters unearthed a disturbing discovery within the smoldering walls of a townhome located in the Charter Club Palm Beach condominium complex. As reported by CBS12 News, printed images suggestive of child sexual abuse material were spotted on the homeowner Barry Percy’s kitchen counter, prompting an immediate investigation by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Additional incriminating materials were found damaged by water from the firefighting efforts in Percy's master bedroom. Living for over two decades in the unit, neighbors described the now 60-year-old Percy's behavior as odd, with one recounting to CBS12 News, “Very bizarre behavior. Very creepy,” and expressing relief over Percy's arrest. After being treated for carbon monoxide exposure at St. Mary's Medical Center, Percy was taken into custody and is currently being held with a $50,000 bond on five counts of child pornography possession.
Meanwhile, Thomas Poole, a fugitive wanted for multiple sex crimes involving a minor, found his run from the law ending in Port St. Lucie yesterday morning. The Port St. Lucie Police Department, alongside the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, arrested the 36-year-old who had been on the lam before being located in Florida. WPBF reports that, after receiving a tip about his potential whereabouts, Poole was captured without incident at a residence on Pyramid Road.
According to authorities, Poole faces a bevy of felony charges stemming from sex crimes involving a minor. It is anticipated that he would be extradited back to Suffolk County, New York, to answer for these charges.
