In the quest to continuously redefine cinema entertainment, Harkins Theatres has just cut the ribbon on its latest venture: the Harkins BackLot at The Shops at Norterra in north Phoenix. More than a movie theater, this entertainment hub is designed to be a playground for all ages, offering a variety of activities from interactive bowling lanes, virtual reality, to a state-of-the-art viewing arena. ABC15 reported that BackLot boasts Arizona's largest cinema-sized sports screen, along with a full-service restaurant, bar, and arcade games, including the Marvel Avengers Coin Pusher and Krazy Darts, among others.

The concept merges traditional movie-going with an expanded suite of entertainment options bound to cater to a variety of tastes and perfectly complement the existing slate of Harkins Theatre's services. Mike Bowers, CEO and President of Harkins Theatres, expressed the company's commitment "to creating exceptional entertainment experiences," aiming to deliver "an unrivaled social entertainment destination," according to a statement obtained by KTAR. In celebration of the launch, Harkins is offering guests 25% off bowling, food, and drinks, excluding alcohol, and a bonus with every Action! Card purchase, but only through the end of July.

An anticipated highlight of the Harkins BackLot is the 'BackLot Arena,' which uses the latest laser image projection technology to give sports fans an immersive viewing experience. Beyond the Arena, over 60 screens are scattered throughout the venue, ensuring guests won't miss a moment of their favorite live sports. The dining experience is equally exceptional, featuring dishes such as the Hangover Burger and Ahi Tuna Stack, complemented by a selection of local brews, wines, and handcrafted cocktails, served both indoors and out on the patio.

For those looking to engage more actively, Spark® Bowling presents 12 interactive lanes equipped with augmented reality, perfect for challenging friends or hosting private events. Adding to the interactive component, Krazy Darts aims to revamp the classic game with animated visuals on a large screen. And for those in need of a venue for corporate events or parties, BackLot is ready to accommodate. Valley-based Harkins Theatres described the endeavor as an extension of their tradition of bringing people together through entertainment, with Harkins owner Dan Harkins telling KTAR, "We're excited to continue that tradition with Harkins BackLot."
