A Hialeah woman in her 50s was hospitalized after a canine attack this morning. The incident occurred in the 1100 block of West 50th Street, according to information from the Hialeah Police. The identity of the woman has not been released to the public, Local 10 reported.
The victim was confronted by the dog and bitten in various areas, sustaining injuries severe enough to necessitate airlift to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, stated by Local 10. Responders from both Hialeah Fire Rescue and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were at the scene, and Lt. Carlos González of Hialeah Fire Rescue was among the officials who addressed the media.
Following the attack, authorities were seen gathering around a residential property as Chopper 6 flew overhead, NBC Miami reported. The current condition of the woman remains undisclosed, with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The involved dog has been placed under quarantine and is awaiting further evaluation from animal control, as per the details shared by the police. The circumstances leading up to the incident have prompted an investigation to determine what may have triggered the animal's aggressive behavior.
