The City of Homestead is extending an open invitation to the public for the mural unveiling at the Seminole Theatre building, part of the city's ongoing Art in Public Places Initiative. Set against the fitting backdrop of Losner Park, this cultural event is scheduled for July 31 from 6 PM to 8 PM, promising an evening where art takes center stage, as mentioned on the city's website.

In a move to celebrate Homestead's cultural identity and enhance civic engagement, two new murals by celebrated artists AJ Davis and Kenny Maguire will be introduced. According to a press release from the City of Homestead, attendees will be treated to light refreshments and the opportunity to meet the creators of these inspiring installations. Those interested in attending can RSVP through the city’s events page.

The artists, AJ Davis and Kenny Maguire, have painted their creativity and vision across the Seminole Theatre wall with their distinct artistic styles. Davis, a Denver-based artist, has his work displayed in various countries and is known for integrating painting and sculpture effectively. His mural captures the essence of the Everglades, celebrating local fauna with the image of a blue heron and endangered species like the ghost orchid and hieroglyphic moth.

Kenny Maguire, a mural artist with more than 40 years of experience, has brought his work to community spaces in states like Ohio and Florida. His latest project, the River of Grass mural, captures a sunrise over the Everglades using only 5-inch brushes. Maguire climbed to the top of the building more than 250 times to complete the piece, each brushstroke reflecting his deep appreciation for the region’s history and natural beauty, as noted by the same press release.

Mural enthusiasts and fans of public art are invited to attend the event.
