Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's Nuisance Abatement detectives are seeking assistance from the public in a sobering case of animal cruelty. According to an IMPD News social media post, on the morning of June 27, officers responded to an incident on W. Morris Street, where they apprehended Krystal Scott for a probation violation stemming from a 2020 case involving similar charges.
During her arrest, a van rented by Scott was found to contain multiple animal remains. Passed off as free pets on social media, these unfortunate creatures are believed to have been dogs and cats—victims of her alleged cruelty. Scott reportedly lured pet owners and prospective adopters near Greenwood Park Mall, utilizing a rental Sprinter van with the Arizona license plate number AM95046— a disturbing detail for those who unknowingly gave up animals to her care.
The IMPD team has called upon anyone who might have given or received an animal from Scott, or who interacted with her in conjunction with the van in question, to come forward. Contact can be made directly with the IMPD Nuisance Abatement at (317) 327-1270 or through email at [email protected]. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous should reach out to Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or (TIPS).
Meanwhile, amid the investigation, IMPD has taken custody of 14 live animals believed to be connected to this case. These survivors have been entrusted to the care of Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS). Pet owners who suspect their animal may have been affected are being directed to contact IACS at (317) 327-1397 to ascertain the welfare of their pets. The case, designated IP250053542, continues to develop as more information surfaces, with the department relying on community engagement to aid their persistent search for justice for these animals.
