The tranquility of a neighborhood in Jupiter was shattered over the weekend after a dispute over late-night July 4th fireworks escalated. According to NBC Miami, police arrested 64-year-old David Norco who allegedly threatened his neighbors with a gun because of their fireworks celebration. Norco is now facing five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

Last Saturday, the situation in the Pine Gardens North neighborhood intensified leading to an involvement of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the deployment of a SWAT team and a drone. As reported by WFLA News, the arrest followed after a series of events beginning around 4 a.m., when the initial complaint was made, and ending with Norco's surrender hours later. The commotion in the locality was such that residents received a "shelter-in-place" order as tensions escalated.

During his court appearance yesterday, the judge set a bond for Norco at $250,000, or $50,000 for each count of aggravated assault as per the police report. Following the arraignment, additional restrictions were placed on Norco, prohibiting him from being within 500 feet of any of the victims involved in the incident. While there were no shots fired or injuries reported, the gravity of the threat warranted a robust police response.

"The cops came, beat on the door at like 6 a.m., said, 'Hey, just don't come outside,'" one neighbor told NBC Miami. This action by the police was a precautionary measure as they worked to contain the situation and ensure the safety of all individuals in the vicinity, without knowing in that moment, whether the threat could escalate into a more violent confrontation.

The charged individual, Norco, was taken into custody later in the day without further incident. Police have not yet disclosed any additional details surrounding the motives behind Norco's alleged actions. The case is ongoing.
