Early this morning, a man and a woman were shot in Miami, sparking a police investigation. The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. near the intersection of Northwest 11th Street and 24th Avenue. Both victims sustained gunshot wounds to the stomach and were hastily transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where they are listed in critical condition, as reported by Local 10 News.

Miami Police have yet to apprehend the shooter, who managed to quickly flee the scene. Early indications suggest the shooting may have been domestic in nature. A vehicle in the vicinity, a white GMC, was found with a bullet hole through its windshield. Luz Velasquez, the car's owner, was taken aback by the violent occurrence near her residence. "It’s (a) surprise for me -- I get nervous," she told Local 10 News.

In a separate account, NBC6 reports a witness's description of the events leading up to the shooting. The witness recalled being awakened by an argument and upon looking out, saw a gunman pointing a weapon at another man while apparently shouting at the victim. After the shooting, the gunman was seen running away from the scene.

When officers arrived, they discovered the woman injured in the street, while the male victim had already fled. Details regarding the suspect have not been disclosed as the police investigation is continuing. The police are urging anyone with information on the double shooting to contact the Miami Police Department or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
