
Tragedy struck again on the streets of Chicago's South Side as a man was fatally shot on Friday afternoon in Woodlawn. The Chicago Police Department reported the incident occurred around 4 p.m. near the 6200 block of South Rhodes Avenue. The victim was located on the sidewalk when someone shot him in the abdomen, shooting from an undisclosed location. ABC 7 Chicago detailed that he was quickly taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The efforts to save the man, whose identity and age have yet to be confirmed by the authorities, were in vain, as he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. As of now, the Chicago Police Department has yet to swiftly arrest someone in connection with the shooting. This latest episode of gun violence underscores a continuing crisis in the city's neighborhoods. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the male victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center following the incident.
