A man was killed in a hit-and-run incident on Chicago's West Side, according to local authorities. The victim, identified as Patrick K. Beck, aged 35, lost his life early Saturday morning when struck by a vehicle in Lawndale.
The report from ABC7 Chicago states that the collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of S. Cicero Avenue. Beck was reportedly outside at the time of the incident when a black sedan impacted him and then left the scene. No arrests have been made, and the search for the driver continues.
Following the accident, authorities rushed Beck to an area hospital. Unfortunately, the efforts of the medical staff at Loyola University Medical Center were not enough to save Beck's life. He was pronounced dead there, his premature passing noted by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The WGN-TV coverage highlighted that the area of South Cicero Avenue where the crash occurred falls within Chicago's Austin neighborhood, an area not unacquainted with incidents of this violent and abrupt nature. The Chicago Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run to come forward, as they work to piece together the circumstances that led to Beck's untimely demise.
