
A man in his 70s lost his life following a pre-dawn car accident Friday in Boston. The incident unfolded around 3:30 a.m. at the juncture where the Sumner Tunnel connects to I-93 North in the vicinity of Government Center, authorities reported. WHDH noted the victim became ensnared within the wreckage, prompting an urgent rescue operation.
Massachusetts State Police, alongside Boston Fire and EMS, had to struggle to free the trapped driver, whose injuries were of a dire nature. According to a statement obtained by WHDH, "The operator, a man in his 70s, became trapped as a result of the crash." He was subsequently transported to Massachusetts General Hospital. Upon arriving with life-threatening injuries, succumbing to his injuries, the hospital would later declare him deceased.
Following the tragic event, the Massachusetts State Police have launched a thorough investigation, seeking clarity on the circumstances that led to the man's death. The probe into the accident's cause is currently ongoing, with details yet to be disclosed pending further inquiry.
