Medford residents and visitors, mark your calendars and plan your routes accordingly as the city embarks on a series of lane and road closures starting June 30, stretching into the first week of July. These disruptions are due to several utility upgrades and infrastructure maintenance projects throughout the area.
The City of Medford's official website alerts that Morrow Road will see lane closures from Biddle Road to Corona Avenue until July 10, accommodating Hunter Communications as they install fiber optic cables. Concurrently, an eastbound lane on Barnett Road from Ellendale Drive to Hilldale Avenue will be closed for the removal and replacement of communications poles up to July 11. Both projects will create potential traffic delays during their respective hours of operation.
Additional closures include alternating lanes on Ellendale Drive and an eastbound lane on Dakota Avenue due to new fiber installation by C-2 Utility Services on behalf of CenturyLink Communications. Moreover, Newtown Street and West 11th Street will have southbound and eastbound lane closures, respectively, for similar works taking place between July 1 and 14. Motorists traversing these areas can expect flaggers controlling traffic flow.
Night work is scheduled on Barnett Road, where Morello Construction will be laying new communication lines through the early hours tomorrow. Moreover, special roadstriping operations by Specialized Pavement Marking (SPM) on 10th Street will prompt lane closures between 7 pm and 6 am from July 1st through 3rd, further adding to the navigational challenges for nighttime drivers.
