
Tragedy struck a Miami neighborhood in the early hours of a Sunday morning last month, when a hit-and-run incident left an elderly pedestrian dead and led to the later arrest of a suspect. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO), deputies were called to the scene at the intersection of NW 7th Avenue and NW 115th Street following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on June 29, around 3:37 a.m.
The subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of Isaleb Anofils, a 36-year-old Miami resident, who detectives say was behind the wheel of the abandoned vehicle found near the victim; Anofils allegedly hit the victim and then fled the scene without providing aid or contacting emergency services.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced 82-year-old Austin Noel deceased at the scene of the accident. As detailed in the aforementioned release, Anofils now faces charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Death and Vehicular Homicide. The case has been identified by the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office as PD250629190172.
