On Independence Day in Terrebonne Parish, a single-vehicle crash killed a Morgan City man. According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash happened just before 8:00 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 182. The victim, 76-year-old James McCleary, was driving westbound when his 2014 Ford F-150 went off the road, hit a tree, and ended up partially in a nearby waterway.
McCleary, who was unrestrained at the time of the accident, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Toxicology samples were collected as part of the ongoing investigation, as reported by the Louisiana State Police.
A recent crash resulted in the death of Mr. McCleary and is still under investigation. Louisiana State Police reminded the public that wearing seatbelts significantly reduces the risk of serious injury or death in traffic accidents and stated that seatbelt use is a simple safety measure that can save lives.
