In the quiet rumble of Central Pike, a sequence of events unfolded that was as intriguing as it was innocuous, a blend of technology, strategy, and an ending as wholesome as they come. The Mt. Juliet Police Department, with the help of their advanced MJGuardianShield license plate readers, was alerted to a stolen vehicle — a Chevy S10 pickup — reported missing just two days prior, from Lafayette, GA. According to a social media post by the police department, the truck was traveling along Central Pike before everything came to a head.
The MJPD officers didn't leap into action with a high-speed chase, instead, they implemented a "proactive pursuit prevention plan." They tracked the vehicle from a distance, biding their time until, in a stroke of fortune, the truck ran out of fuel—right at the entrance to Summit Hospital on Central Pike. As the occupants were stuck without an escape, the officers closed in, safely containing the vehicle and taking a 40-year-old Rossville, GA man into custody. He was promptly detained, not only for the vehicle theft but also due to an outstanding warrant from Catoosa County, GA, related to a probation violation warrant connected to participating in a riot.
But the man wasn't alone. Accompanying him were an adult female and a puppy, both passengers in what turned into an unintended joyride that ended as quietly as it began. The police, showing a softer side to their enforcement duties, ensured both passengers were checked out and safely released at the scene—the puppy receiving its fair share of attention and affection from the officers involved.

The MJPD's use of the MJGuardianShield technology led to a seamless arrest, and also likely saved the occupants from a potentially dangerous situation on the road, or worse. As they later summarized on social media, this event "highlights the power of teamwork, smart strategy, and tech like #MJGuardianShield to keep Mt. Juliet safe—for people and pups alike!"
